The following are the highlights of significant activities carried out by the Field Publicity Units of 22 Regional Offices under the Directorate during the month of February, 2008.
AVIAN FLU
The DFP Field Units continued awareness drive and carried out publicity programmes on preventive measures in their respective areas on Avian Flu in West Bengal, eight North-Eastern states and bordering states of West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Jharkhand. DFP Hqrs. Procured publicity material and film from Animal Husbandry, Government of India, in 8 languages including Hindi and English and forwarded the same to the respective areas.
PUBLIC INFORMATION CAMPAIGN
DFP Units participated in PIC campaigns as per detail given below:-

Maharashtra - 2
DFP Units in their respective regions played special and important role in disseminating information to the public by organizing Pre-PIC programme in surrounding villages of the main PIC venue. During Pre-PIC programme DFP Units gave general information about the main PIC and motivated the public to participate in main PIC. The information was imparted through various programmes and activities such as Oral Communication, Film Shows, Group Discussions, Rural Sport Competitions etc. DFP Units again visited the villages for Post-PIC programmes and through regular programme activities assembled the public at one place and took feedback of the success of main PIC programmes.
RED RIBBON/AIDS
The DFP Field Publicity Units organized special publicity programmes on HIVAIDS awareness on the places from where Red Ribbon Express (Rail Exhibition) passed through. The DFP Units through various activities such as, Film Shows, Public Meetings, Symposiums, Various Competitions, Baby Shows, Discussions etc. carried out special publicity programmes on preventive measures, information regarding centers and facilities.
AZADI EXPRESS
Observing 60 years of independence and commemorating the 150th anniversary of first war of Independence, DFP Units have organized special programmes on Communal Harmony, Brotherhood, National Integration and Patriotism at all the places/stations from where AZADI EXPRESS has passed through during the month of February-2008.
NIDDCP
During the month of February, 2008, DFP Field Units also organized Iodine Deficiency Awareness publicity programmes in Karnatka, Kerala, Tripura, Kashmir, Bihar, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Goa, Maharashtra, Manipur, Mizoram, Chandigarh etc.
Apart from the activities mentioned above, as per the directions/order of secretary I&B, Pulse Polio Immunizations Awareness Programme, is included in all programmes activities of DFP. The DFP Units carry out their publicity programmes through Film Shows, Oral Communication, Group Discussion, Photo Exhibitions, Healthy Baby Show, Question-Answer Quiz Competition etc.
