The following are the highlights of significant activities carried out by the Field Publicity Units of 22 Regional Offices under the Directorate during the month of September, 2007.
Arunachal Pradesh Region
The field units in the region launched various publicity programmes on H&FW, AIDS Awareness, Rural Development and Poverty Alleviation, Empowerment of Women, Social Welfare, PM’s new 15-point programme for the Welfare of Minorities, Avian Flu, NI&CH and un-touchability etc. in a befitting manner. Programmes were organized in coordination with NGOs, Village Panchayat, Educational Institutions, Health Department, Local Administration and other agencies through Film Shows, Oral Communications, Photo Exhibitions, Public Awareness Meetings etc. to create awareness on various programmes and policies of the Central Government.
Assam Region
During the month under report the field units of the Region organized various publicity programmes which included Film Shows, Oral Communications, Photo/Posters Exhibitions, Special Programmes highlighting major National Themes like NI&CH, H&FW, Rural Development, AIDS Awareness, NIDDCP, NRHM, Malaria Eradication Programme, Avian Flu etc. in coordination with various State Government Departments and NGOs. Most of the units emphasized on the theme Malaria Eradication Programme as major parts of the state are affected by Malaria. During the same period most of the unit organized special publicity programmes on water borne diseases under NRHM and AIDS Awareness programmes in a befitting manner. In addition to the above, the units observed National Nutrition Week from 1st to 7th September, 2007 during which they organized special publicity programmes on the theme.
Bihar Region
All the units in the region carried out programmes on various themes during the month of September, 2007. The important themes covered were AIDS, NIDDCP, NRHM, NI&CH, Hindi Diwas/Fortnight, PM’s new 15-point programme for the Welfare of Minorities, PPI, World Literacy Day, Blood Donation Camp etc. through film shows, oral communications, photo exhibitions etc. The units observed Hindi Diwas by arranging special programmes on the occasion. Stress was also laid to use Hindi in day to-day work in the offices. Besides the above, the units also organized suitable publicity programmes on PM’s new 15-point programme for the welfare of minorities in co-ordination with Commission for Minorities of Bihar State and NGOs.
Gujarat Region
All the units in the region organized special programmes on HIV/AIDS and NIDDCP. The units also celebrated National Nutrition Week from 1st to 7th September, 2007. The Regional Office with help of Central Food and Nutrition unit and CDPO, organized seminars, Healthy Baby shows and quiz competitions at Sidhpur Block Area. The region also participated in PIC organized by PIB at Palanpur from September 19-23, 2007, along with other media units.
Karanataka Region
The field units of the region organized intensive publicity campaign on AIDS Awareness, NIDDCP during the month of September, 2007, by conducting special interactive programmes and competitive events in the identified districts/blocks of the State. The units also observed nutrition week, Teacher’s Day, Hindi Diwas/Fortnight and organized suitable programmes on the themes in their respective jurisdiction. The field programmes of the units also covered the subjects like PM’s new 15-point programme for the Welfare of Minorities, NI&CH, H&FW, PPI, Consumer Rights, Avian Flu Awareness, Anti-Tobacco, Literacy, Social Justice, Child Rights, NRHM, NREGA etc.
Maharashtra and Goa Region
The field units of the region organized several publicity programmes which included Film Shows, Oral Communication, Photo Exhibitions, Special Programmes highlighting major national themes, like NI&CH, H&FW, Rural Development, PM’s new 15-point programme for the Welfare of Minorities, AIDS Awareness, NIDDCP, Teacher’s Day, Hindi Diwas/Fortnight, NRHM, Avian Flu Awareness in co-ordination with various State Departments and NGOs. In addition to these, units organized programmes on Child Rights and Development, RTI and World Literacy Day etc.
Kerala and Lakshadweep Region
Field units in the region launched special campaigning on themes such as AIDS Awareness, NIDDCP, besides organizing programmes in connection with Hindi Fortnight, Teacher’s Day, Nutrition Week and Onam celebrations. In fact, Hindi Fortnight was observed by all the units by arranging suitable field activities. In addition to these, a two- day regional workshop on “Development Communication: New Challenges, New Approaches” was held at Kottayam on September 19-20, 2007, to sensitize FPOs, TAs/FPAs and chalk out IEC strategies for the forthcoming PIC.
West Bengal (South)
During the month under report the Region launched special publicity campaign on NIDDCP, AIDS Awareness in various remote and interior places of the identified districts specified for West Bengal (South) Region. In order to give wide publicity and dissemination information on the above themes the units in the Region conducted number of competitions in the form of Rural Sports, Quiz, Musical Chair, Elocution Contest, Rallies and Seminars. In addition to the above, the units had also given due importance to publicize other themes like H&FW, Rural Development, Social Welfare, NICH, Rights of Child, Girl Child Marriage, Avian Flu, PM’s new 15-point programme for the welfare of Minorities to create general mass awareness. The region also observed Hindi Diwas/Fortnight from 14th to 28th September, 2007.
North-West-Region
All the units of the Region actively carried out programmes on various themes during the month of September, 2007. The Field Publicity Units under the jurisdiction of North-West Region launched special publicity campaign on AIDS Awareness, NIDDCP by organizing special interactive programmes in the form of declamation contests, Seminars, Quiz, Public Meetings, Debates, and Question and Answer Session in co-ordination with SACS, Mahila Mandals, Gram Panchayats and other NGOs. In addition to the special publicity campaigns, field units also arranged Film Shows and Photo Exhibitions highlighting the major national policies and programmes. Apart from these, routine themes like NI&CH, H&FW, Rural Development, Social Welfare and Empowerment of Women were also highlighted by the units during the month through Film Shows, Oral Communication Programmes and Photo Exhibitions etc.
UP (CE) Region
The DFP, Lucknow actively participated in Bharat Nirman – Public Information Campaign at Azamgarh district of U.P. The other media units of the Ministry of I&B also participated in day-to-day programmes and activities. During the campaign period the field units of DFP covered 100 villages in the district. The main PIC was to be inaugurated by Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha, U.P. but due to unavoidable circumstances he could attend and Shri Mewalai Goswami, Freedom Fighter, inaugurated the function. The VIPs who attended the PIC included Smt. Vidya Chaudhary, Minister of State for Women Welfare, local MLA Shri Durga Prasad Yadav etc. Shri Ram Naresh Yadav, the former Chief Minister of U.P. was the chief guest at the concluding ceremony. Beside the above, field units of the region organized various routine programmes on Iodine Deficiency, PPI, AIDS Awareness, Girl Child Education etc. during the month of September, 2007.
Uttarakhand Region
The Directorate of Filed Publicity, Dehradun extended active cooperation to Press Information Bureau in organizing the Bharat Nirman - Public Information Campaign in Pinder Valley of Chamoli district, Uttarakhand. The PIC was inaugurated by Prakash Pant, Tourism Minister of the State. The senior district official including District Magistrate were present on the occasion. Dy. Chairman of Chaar Dham Yatra Samiti, Uttarakahand Dr. A.P. Maikhuri was the chief guest at the concluding function on 30th Sept., 2007 at Narayan Bagar. Besides the above, the units in the region observed Hindi Diwas/Fortnight by arranging various programmes during this period. During the month of September, 2007, the units had organized special programmes on the themes like PPI, NIDDCP, AIDS, World Literacy Day and Teacher’s Day in a befitting manner.
Rajasthan Region
The field units of the region organized several publicity programmes on the themes like as World Literacy Day, Hindi Day/Fortnight, Iodine Deficiency during the month of September, 2007. Besides the above, the region also carried out its routine programmes by highlighting the programmes and policies of the Central Government.
Madhya Pradesh Region
Field units in the region organized various programmes during Hindi Fortnight which included speeches and essay competitions and quiz. In addition to these, the region also organized intensive publicity programmes on AIDS and NIDDCP in various parts of the State in co-ordination with concerned State Government Departments, SACS and NGOs. The units also organized programmes on RTI, NREGA, SSA and PMs new 15-point programme for the welfare of minorities during the month.
